Xbox Live Cost Rises, Gmail Priority Inbox Launches

Xbox Live Cost Rises, Gmail Priority Inbox Launches

Xbox Live Becoming More Expensive

Microsoft have left Xbox Live prices alone since it launched way back in 2002 and it was inevitable that at some point they would be looking to raise the cost of playing Xbox online. The new pricing for Xbox Live has been announced and for UK based gamers it isn’t all bad news, yearly subscriptions are staying where they are at £39.99 while the monthly option is being increased to £5.99.

In some parts of the world the increase has been more significant, in the USA for example yearly subscriptions have risen by $10.

Some may be surprised to see the increase since the Playstation equivalent has been offered for free by Sony since launch, with a premium service available at a cost for those who want early access to content. Many users will tell you that the superior service of Xbox Live in comparison to Playstation Network makes it worth the cost, and unless Xbox gamers ditched their consoles in favour of Sony’s free online offering then it now seems unlikely that Microsoft will be making the Xbox Live Gold package free any time soon.

Google Launch Gmail Priority Inbox

Gmail has become such as force in the world of email that it’s hard to remember a world before Google offered their free email service. One thing that Google can’t be faulted for is their determination to improve user experience and introduce new features to Gmail.

The latest addition to the Gmail arsenal is Priority Inbox, which aims to learn from your usage which emails you want the most and determine which messages you’re not too interested in. The plan is that by viewing your Priority Inbox you can get right to the messages that are most important to you, which for those who get a lot of mail could become an invaluable feature.
