Samsung Galaxy Europa - Fancy an Android Handset for under £50?

Android may be steadily gaining more share of the market but most Android handsets sold cost well over £150. Even the popular Orange San Francisco handset is still around the £100 mark and that’s one of the cheapest Android phones available.

With that in mind it may come as quite a surprise to hear that you can now pick up a brand new, fully functioning Android handset for under £50 but it’s true – the Samsung Galaxy Europa is now only £49.99 on a pay as you go tariff from Three.

The handset itself obviously doesn’t have the kind of hardware that can compete with top devices such as the HTC Sensation or Samsung Galaxy S II but for £50 it’s a more than decent phone. A 600MHz processor means while the Europa isn’t lightning quick it is fast enough to be comparable to phones costing almost three times the price.

Features such as a capacitive screen mean the Europa offers far better quality hardware than most other handsets in the same price bracket. You also get a pair of headphones, 1GB memory card and data cable thrown in and WiFi means you can make the most of Android’s excellent web browser and social network connectivity.

The Galaxy Europa might not be a powerhouse and it’s screen could be considered pretty small but for the price the Europa is a great little phone, especially when you look at the quality of other handsets that £50 would normally get you. Three’s pay as you go deals make the Europa look like a solid buy too, topping up £15 a month can get you 300 minutes, 3000 texts and All-you-can-eat data with their All in One 15 Add-on.
