Orange Monte Carlo Available Now

While there are a number of low-cost Android handsets on the market (including the great value Samsung Galaxy Europa) they have all fallen short in one way or another. The latest offering from Orange named the Monte Carlo is looking to change that however, and being named after one of the most desirable locations in the world it has a lot to live up to.

With a 4.3″ capacitive touchscreen the Monte Carlo is instantly sets itself apart from other handsets in the same price range even at a glance. In fact looking at the specifications of this phone you would expect it to cost a lot more than £150, the 5 megapixel camera, HD voice support, Android 2.3 and the previously mentioned 4.3″ screen make this phone sound like a more like competitor to the higher end handsets on the market rather than one of the cheaper handsets on the market.

Orange have previously impressed with their reasonably priced San Francisco, which much like the Monte Carlo was similar to some of the top handsets on the market at the time but cost just £100. The Monte Carlo isn’t quite on par with phones like the Samsung Galaxy S II or HTC Sensation but at a fraction of the cost you wouldn’t really expect it to be. While it has a large screen and the latest version of Android it doesn’t take too much close inspection to notice the hardware just isn’t in the same league as the real high-budget handsets but it is superior to many other handsets in the same price range.

If you don’t want to spend a fortune on an Android phone but want a good value handset with a large screen and the latest version of Android the Monte Carlo is a great choice. You can pick up the Monte Carlo for just £149.99 from Orange right now.
