Next Release Android Tablet

In a slightly confusing move Next (yes, the high street retailer) have released their very own Android tablet. While Next do already sell some electrical goods it does seem strange that they have beaten companies such as Samsung in getting their own brand of Android tablet to market.

Since the release of the iPad interest in tablets suddenly picked up and for many manufacturers Android has been the software of choice. Many of the biggest names in the business are lining up their own tablets so how does the Next 10″ Tablet stack up? Well at just £180 it is reasonably priced, but the downside is the specifications of the machine aren’t all that impressive.

The worst bit of news is the Next Tablet only uses a resistive touchscreen, the kind that requires harder presses and is significantly less responsive than the more expensive capacitive type of touchscreen.

Here at Compare and Recycle we’re quite surprised by this move, but it’s a good sign of how crowded the tablet market is going to become with releases from Samsung and BlackBerry not too far away. The Next 10″ Tablet is available now and who knows, it could be an iPad killer.
