Acer reveal Android phone with 1024x480 resolution screen

While new Android tablets such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab may have a higher resolution screen than most phones, the larger size of a tablet means they’re unlikely to replace our mobile phones any time soon. Things are looking up though as we may be about to see a compromise which could let us have the best of both worlds. Acer plan to release a device which takes the best elements of both a mobile phone and a tablet.

The new Acer device, yet to be named, features a large 4.8″ screen with an impressive resolution of 1024 x 480. That’s slightly smaller than the Dell Streak and it should be just about small enough to be a suitable everyday mobile phone.

This new device isn’t just relying on its large screen to impress though with a 2 megapixel front-facing camera, an 8 megapixel rear camera, 720p video recording, a 1Ghz processor, HDMI output and a full metal body this new handset could be a real winner.

With some of the most popular handsets released recently, such as the HTC Desire HD, featuring screens over 4 inches in size we could see these huge screens become a standard feature of many more high-end handsets. We won’t blame you if you’re unable to resist the temptation of such a beautiful, high resolution screen, but just promise us you’ll be responsible if you upgrade and send your old handset to a mobile phone recycling company!

5G hype is everywhere, but it isn't just going to have a colossal impact on mobile connectivity speed and wireless networks. It will also dramatically boost the rates of mobile phone waste if smartphone owners continue to be apathetic about smartphones' collective impact on the environment.
