Facebook App Gets You More Mazuma By Far

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

Facebook fans all over are getting loads more cash for their old mobile phones by taking advantage of a brilliant new App that has been developed by those clever guys at www.CompareandRecycle.co.uk

All they are doing is going to the Compare and Recycle Facebook fan page and using a clever comparison tool to find all the top prices that are on offer for their old phones.

So much for recycling your old phone with Mazuma, Facebook fans are finding that they can get loads more cash so easily just by typing in their phone make and model.

The App compares over 25 top recyclers and brings them the best prices and top recommended recyclers.

Comparing the Nokia N97 today, we found a massive difference between what Mazuma paid and what the top recommended recycler paid.

Facebook fans made an additional £31 by using the Compare and Recycle Facebook App. That’s a full 26% extra cash which is a fairly typical example of the added value they get for a couple of minutes work.

Mazuma are quite rightly the number one recycler because they spend so much on television advertising which means we have all heard of them but its a little known fact that they hardly ever pay the most cash for your old phone.

Compare and Recycle’s clever Facebook Fans know this and always go to the Facebook App before trading in their old phones for the top price.

Reasons to recycle your old mobile phones and electronic goods

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

Don't let your old electronics become part of this.

In this article guest writer Ade Gbenjo will try and cover some of the questions that you may have about recycling through the http://www.compareandrecycle.co.uk website, and will try and give you some answers that we hope will help to further prevent the unnecessary damage caused by improperly disposing of e-waste.

Why would I consider recycling over selling my goods somewhere local?

When we look back at some of our used goods it’s easy to recall how much we’ve spent on some of them and that simply disposing it or throwing it away is too much hassle, thus generally the only alternatives are to give them away or selling them on. Of course now there are companies willing to buy your used goods including mobile phones, games consoles, laptops, digital cameras, mp3 players and other such disposables that could potentially be threatening to the environment. So now you can not only do your good deed for the day and profit from it too!. It’s not just for cash either, generally the credit value is a lot higher than the cash value too, as a result trading in mobile phones and games consoles in order to finance an upgrade is now becoming a big thing.

Okay, so why are these companies suddenly interested in recyclables?

A business is a business so profit is an obvious answer. However it’s also a universal initiative to claim responsibility for waste any form of waste we produce, especially if they can potentially be hazardous to ourselves and our environment. As an example, mobile phone companies and other businesses can profit from reusing various components that were used to produce the mobile phone, and even fix them up and re-sell them.

What can they extract from recyclables that’s so useful?

Many components of old electronics can be reused, here are some of the more useful extractions:

  • Metals and semi-precious metals can be re-used for a variety of purposes.
  • Plastic can be used for multiple purposes as well as being recyclable.
  • Gold and Silver extracts are useful as conductors and can be used to create jewellery or sent to refineries.
  • Memory chips, LCD screens and speakers can sometimes be re-used in new products or used to repair old ones.
  • Games consoles are often made from high-grade plastics which can be used to create a multitude of other items, have a look at this designer chair made completely out of Playstation 2 consoles!

This chair is made from old games consoles!

I’m not really interested in gaining money to recycle, but I would like to dispose of my phone using an approved method.

Not a problem, using one of the companies featured on http://www.compareandrecycle.co.uk will ensure that you phone is disposed of in the right way. Just search for your model on the site for a list of recyclers who will happily take your old mobile and recycle it responsibly. Using one of these recycling companies is quite often the easiest way to recycle and whether you’re financially driven to recycle or not, it’s always a bonus to get some cash in the bank for doing the responsible thing.

We don’t have any choice but to start recycling more

There are a limited number of resources on our planet and without recycling our old goods we will eventually run out of the materials we need to create new ones. Large companies and governments are waking up and facing the need to recycle and many have schemes in place to reduce the amount of waste and increase the amount of recycled goods. If government targets are reached then is it hoped that landfills will be sent 65% less waste by 2015 than 20 years before in 1995, it is hoped that 67% of waste will be recovered by then and that 33% of household waste will be either recycled or composted too.

If these targets have any chance of being met then recycling needs to be normal thing to do rather than the exception, almost all of us now recycle part of our household waste yet many do not recycle the highly damaging e-waste that is produced. It’s not often you actually get paid to help the environment so dig out your old phones, mp3 players, laptops and digital cameras and get recycling them on http://www.compareandrecycle.co.uk!

CompareAndRecycle.com – A New Breed of Comparison Engine

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

The popularity of trading in one’s old mobile has been increasing exponentially over the past year as the public has become more aware of the residual values inherent in old phones and other electronic recyclables.

Many of the most well known phone recyclers are now advertising on national and regional television and the public’s general awareness is increasing in direct proportion. We have all heard of Mazuma, Envirofone, Fonebank and Love2Recycle, but there are many other reputable companies offering competitive deals on phone recycling.

For many years, old phones have been gathered up by major phone sales outlets for nothing in exchange deals and recycled under bulk buying contracts. This is all changing and many businesses are being established to compete on price with the big name buyers which is having a beneficial effect on the market for old phones.

This should come as great news to the consumer who is seeing a better deal as time goes by.

With the advent of increased price competition comes the ubiquitous price comparison sites that have set out to establish, simplistically, who pays the best price for an old phone. Many of these are simple blogs offering very little valuable information to the consumer whilst other comparison sites have remained static for many years pointing to a very limited group of self-interested parties.

Of course, advertised price is never the whole story when it comes to making a trade. Price is an important consideration when selling your old recyclables but there are a myriad of other considerations that should affect the decision of the discerning seller.

Compare and Recycle is a brand-new breed of Comparison Engine that is now positioned to revolutionise the mobile phone recycling market by using increasingly sophisticated strategies to assess the quality and value of the various offerings and by inviting consumers and merchants to share their experiences, which, in turn, will improve the over all market and drive out bad practice.

The impact that Compare and Recycle is having in this market it truly astonishing and it should be noted that already many complacent competitors are being forced to change their antiquated practices and consider the ever-changing face of technological evolution.

Bring it on we say!!!!

This is all really great news for all you consumers.

How it works

Monday, March 15th, 2010

Using Compare and Recycle to get the most cash for your unwanted goods couldn’t be easier.

We have designed a clear and simple way to compare the best recycling companies and find the ones offering the most cash for your recyclables.

  • Search – Select your model and click to see a full table of all the prices that we can find,
  • Compare – Look at all the columns to see which recycler is best for you,
  • Get Cash – Follow the “Sell Now” link to go and get your cash.

Search

In the search box, just start to type the name or model number of your product and watch the search bar prompt you so you find exactly what you want and then click to go and get prices.

Compare

To make life easier, all the columns of information that we find can be clicked to sort and show the top performers in each category. This saves you having to search about for your information on all the different websites.

For your benefit we have listed:

  • Rating (star rating out of 5)
  • Cash price (working)
  • Non-working (up to a value)
  • Voucher values
  • Pay Within (time taken to pay)
  • Payment Method (options)

Star Rating

To help you select which company suits, we give them a Star Rating based upon:

  • data collected
  • satisfaction feedback
  • accurate price information
  • easy to understand websites
  • conversion statistics
  • delivery
  • brand association
  • transparency
  • 5 Star rated companies must subscribe to our forum and respond to customer feedback

We give recommended status with five stars to a select number of companies called recommended recyclers. They pay us an enhanced commission to promote them. In return, we ask them to ensure that they maintain a high conversion rate and good customer relations with you our users and we also ask that they join our forum and respond to any feedback users give publicly if required. That is not to say that some of the other companies that we display will not offer a good service too it just that we do not have the same agreements in place. A low star rating sometimes means that we are not confident of the conversion statistics or there has been unanswered adverse feed back or the merchant does not pay a very good commission to support this comparison site or there is adverse feedback elsewhere that we have taken into account. When you have selected a recycler and sent your product off please don’t forget to come back to our site and tell us about the service they gave and when you received your cash. You can contact us here.

This helps us refine our Star Rating Guide.

Don’t forget to Bookmark Compare and Recycle so you can find us again easily and comment.

You can read more about how we are financed and how this benefits you if link to Our Ethos.

Cash Price

The cash price we display is where possible the price that each company will pay for a working phone in reasonable condition.

Non-working (or damaged)

This is a proportion of the maximum paid for a working phone and can vary markedly. As a guide we include the best offer for slight damage but you should satisfy yourself that your phone complies by reading the terms and conditions of the recycler if you have any doubts.

Voucher Value

There are various voucher offers to consider but please make sure that you select vouchers that will be useful to you.

Pay within

This is the length of time that the recycler claims to take, to issue your payment. Some methods will take longer than others, remember, so you may not actually receive it until later.

Pay Method

Choose whichever method suits you best.

Sell

When you have decided which recycler is best for you just click on the “Sell Now” link and follow the recycler’s instructions. Please read the details carefully to make sure that it is what you expected then freepost your goods to get your payment. It couldn’t be easier.

Listed and Recommended Recyclers

Compare and Recycle is a free comparison service to consumers and we try to ensure that you can link to most companies that are willing to bid for your goods. These companies are called merchants and they pay a fee to become listed on an affiliate network and they pay a commission to the network for each confirmed transaction. That is how we are funded.

From Compare and Recycle

We do hope that you enjoy using this site to find the best deals and that we have made your life a little easier. Please get back to us with feedback on any issues that you encounter or ways you can think of to help us improve our service. All your comments will have a positive effect on the service that the recyclers provide.

And don’t forget… if you like this site, recommend us to your friends. We have put a useful link to all the most popular social networks below and on our home page.
